Easy Chocolate Cake


  • This makes an 8 or 9 inch cake or about 15 cupcakes.
  • 1-1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • tsp salt
  • 3 tablespoons (rounded) cocoa
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. Put all dry ingredients into sifter. Sift into mixing bowl. Add vanilla, vinegar, vegetable oil and water. Mix together well. Bake in 8 or 9 inch cake pan at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.


Dot Young says, "It can be mixed in the baking pan by sifting the dry ingredients into the baking pan and making three holes in the dry ingredients. Into the first hole put the vanilla, into the second put the vinegar and in the third put the vegetable oil. Push dry ingredients over the filled holes. Pour the cup of cold water over all and mix together well. I prefer the first version using a bowl and then pouring into the cake pan."
