   Cruise Links

Here are my links to some cruise-related websites I find interesting and helpful. I've also included links to many of the cruise line companies that serve the southeastern United States and their ships that embark from southeastern ports.

  • The Roaming Mind of Norm -- UPDATE: As of October 30, 2006, Michael is back on the high seas. This time he's on the Coral Princess. He is taking photos again and he sounds very happy...

Michael, from Calgary, worked on the brand new ship, Crown Princess, as a photographer. He keeps a very interesting blog. In real life he is also a photographer and there are links to some splendid examples of his work. He was on the ship during its fourth voyage when it listed 15 degrees to port while returning to New York. You can read all about it on his blog.

  • Crew Office -- Although I haven't discovered a name yet, SBM (yet another Canadian!) has spent eight years on Princess, working as computer officer and in various financial positions. He is currently between engagements but is traveling the world "sorting things out." His blog is full of wonderful cruise lore and behind the scenes info.

  • The Real Truth About Cruise Ship Jobs -- if you want to work on a cruise ship or simply want to know what it's like, Mark tells all. But this blog isn't limited to getting cruise ship jobs, it also includes Mark's own True Stories From the High Seas.
  •
  • Safe Cruise Blog -- "The current lack of safety & security is not acceptable especially after 9/11," says this blogster. The blog also documents the many disappearances of cruise ship passengers and crew reported each year (62 since the year 2000). And it even tells of heavy drinking on some of the cruises out of Australia. Aussies on vacation drinking to excess? I am shocked to hear that!

  • Tabitha at Sea -- Toronto native, Tabitha, is a member of the famed Second City sketch and improvisation ensemble. She was with a troupe of Second City that performed on Norwegian Cruise Line's, Norwegian Dawn, out of New York City. Her blog gives us a witty look at working life on a cruise ship and glimpses of backstage life as well. As she says, "High-larity on the high seas."
[NOTE: Tabitha finished her contract, but perhaps she will go back to sea sometime soon.]
