| RANCH DRESSING If you like Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing, try this.
|
| Ingredients
- This recipe makes 1 cup -- low sodium, no MSG.
-
- 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup of buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes, crushed
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
- a scant 1/4 teaspoon, total, of one or a combination of dried herbs -- thyme, oregano, dill, basil or your favorite
|
|
| Directions
Mix all the ingredients, cover and chill. Let it rest for at least 3 or 4 hours before serving -- overnight is
even better. Stir it well again just before using. It will keep in the refrigerator for 4 or 5 days.
|
| Notes
If you stir in 2 or 3 tablespoons of crumbled blue cheese, you'll have what we call "House Dressing" at our house.
In addition to using this as a salad dressing it is great on baked potatoes or as a dip for carrot and celery sticks and best of all for dipping Ruffles Original Potato Chips -- Ruffles Have Ridges.
And yes, there really was a Hidden Valley Ranch where the dressing was invented. Today there are three communities called Hidden Valley in California. The ranch was near Santa Barbara.
